Former Baltimore Ravens star Ed Reed officially announced his retirement in a news conference at the team's training facility on Thursday.
After 17 months without playing in the NFL and three years after leaving the Ravens, Reed signed a one-day contract with the franchise to end his career with them.
"This is where it started and I knew this is where it was going to end," Reed told the media.
"Home is here. Home has always been in Baltimore. My heart is always been in Baltimore. It will always be in Baltimore and the M&T Bank Stadium."
The 36-year-old acknowledged that it was tough to walk away from the game, but will now be inducted into the Ravens' Ring of Honour on November 22.
