Half-Time Report: Detroit Lions in control over Buffalo Bills

A touchdown in each quarter sees the Detroit Lions take a 14-3 lead into the halfway stage of their match against the Buffalo Bills this evening.

The Detroit Lions have taken a 14-3 lead into the halfway stage of their NFL match against the Buffalo Bills this evening.

The Lions defence did a good job of putting Kyle Orton under pressure in the first quarter, and they were rewarded for that when Ashlee Palmer sacked the Bills man for a loss of nine yards.

The hosts thought that they had broken the deadlock right at the end of the first quarter when Matthew Stafford fired a nine-yard pass to Eric Ebron in the endzone, but the play was challenged and the decision was reversed.

However, it was merely delaying the inevitable for the Bills as, on the very next play, Stafford found Golden Tate in the endzone for the receiver's first Lions touchdown.

That lead was soon doubled in the second quarter as Orton threw an interception straight to Rashean Mathis, who returned it 41 yards for a touchdown.

The Bills finally got on the scoreboard later in the quarter as Dan Carpenter knocked over a 45-yard field goal to reduce the deficit to 11 points at the interval.
