Steve Smith joins Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens agree a deal to sign former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith on a three-year contract.

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed a deal to sign former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith on a three-year contract.

Smith was released by the Panthers yesterday, bringing an end to a stellar 13-year spell with the team, during which time he became their all-time leader in catches, receiving yards and touchdowns.

The 34-year-old ranks in the top 20 in NFL history for receptions and will look to help fill the gap left by Anquan Boldin, who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers before the 2013 season.

Smith had been with the Panthers since being picked in the third round of the 2001 Draft, going on to be elected to five Pro Bowls over his illustrious career.

He caught 64 passes for 746 yards and four touchdowns last season as the Panthers won the NFC South title, and he has already expressed his desire to show his former team that they were wrong to release him.
