The Carolina Panthers have agreed to a one-year deal with former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Alan Ball, according to a league source.
The 29-year-old was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round in 2007, and started seven games for the Jaguars last year before suffering an injury.
Ball had 22 tackles, one interception and three pass break-ups before suffering a biceps injury and being placed on injured reserve.
However, his best season came in 2010 when he started 16 games and made 45 tackles, broke up six passes and intercepted two passes.
The Panthers have made an effort to upgrade their secondary in free agency, signing cornerback Teddy Williams and safety Kurt Coleman.
