Former Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo has expressed his belief that quarterback Jay Cutler is poised for an "outstanding year" in the 2014 season.
Cutler signed a new long-term deal with the Bears in the off-season despite an injury-hit campaign in 2013, and now Angelo has insisted that the 31-year-old is primed for a career year.
"The pressure's off now. He's got his contract," Angelo told 87.7 The Game. "In all likelihood it's going to be his last big contract, and he's firmly entrenched as the starter and he knows what he has to do. I think he's going to have an outstanding year.
"It's a great offense, great personnel around him. And he's very, very comfortable now going into his second year. As we've talked about before, the biggest thing right now is just staying healthy. If he stays healthy the sky's the limit for the team."
Cutler threw for 2,621 yards along with 19 touchdowns to 12 interceptions in the 2013 season.
