A number of Cleveland Browns players have expressed their surprise at the franchise's decision to trade star running back Trent Richardson.
Richardson completed a move to the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, with his new team giving up a first-round pick in next year's NFL Draft to acquire him from the Browns.
The transfer of the 2012 third overall Draft pick was unexpected and quite sudden, with a deal reportedly only being first spoken of on Tuesday.
"I was in shock like everyone else," Browns safety TJ Ward told Fox Sports Ohio. But nothing surprises me anymore. It's part of the business; here today, gone tomorrow. It shocked a lot of us."
Wide receiver Josh Gordon echoed Ward's sentiments, saying: "I think the trade was a shock to everybody, but we just have to deal with it.
"A first-round pick to be traded so quickly just tells you to do your job. I believe everyone's role is to step up, even though we know what a big deal it is."
Richardson rushed for 950 yards and 11 touchdowns in his rookie season last year.
