Daniel Jeremiah: 'Cleveland Browns prefer Derek Carr to Johnny Manziel'

An NFL media insider says that the Cleveland Browns have their eyes on Derek Carr to be their new quarterback ahead of May's Draft.

NFL reporter Daniel Jeremiah has stated that the Cleveland Browns are favouring a Draft pick of Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr, as opposed to Johnny Manziel.

The Browns have fourth and 26th overall picks in the 2014 NFL Draft, but after changes to their front office and management, attention has turned to Carr under the new regime.

Jeremiah told The Dan Patrick Show: "It had been so out there that the Browns loved Manziel under the previous regime, and I talked to enough people at the scouting combine that firmly believe that that was a total smokescreen.

"Their guy is Derek Carr. They want to take a different player with the fourth pick and they want to take Carr with their second one at 26. I heard that from several different places."

Manziel has been projected to be chosen third overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
