Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has admitted that he wants quarterback Kyle Orton to return to the team for the 2014 season.

The 31-year-old has served as Tony Romo's backup for the past two campaigns and was pressed into action in his side's season-decider against the Philadelphia Eagles, where he threw a costly interception that cost his team a place in the playoffs.

"He hasn't indicated that he has decided or not decided to play," Jones told the Dallas Morning News. "If he plays, we want him to play with the Cowboys.

"I could say to him directly the last time we were together made it very rewarding and worthwhile for you to be on the team, and I hope it was rewarding to you. I can say that, as I sit here today, we want him."

Orton has been in the NFL since 2005.
