Dallas Cowboys leave it late for incredible comeback

The Dallas Cowboys produce an incredible late comeback to beat the Washington Redskins to keep their NFL playoff hopes alive going into week 17.

Tony Romo fired a last-minute touchdown strike to DeMarco Murray to keep the Dallas Cowboys' season alive with a 24-23 win over the Washington Redskins in the NFL.

The Cowboys had an excellent start to the game as Michael Spurlock reeled off a 62-yard punt return to put his team inside the five-yard line and Romo handed off to DeMarco Murray, who powered into the endzone.

Washington hit back as a punt put the Cowboys at the one and Romo couldn't get a first down, which left the Redskins a short field and Kirk Cousins moved his side into field-goal range to allow Kai Forbath to fire over from 36 yards.

The Redskins couldn't punch the ball into the endzone when inside the 10 and were forced to settle for a 22-yard from Forbath.

On their next drive the Cowboys punished their lack of potency as Romo evaded the rush and found Dez Bryant for a 14-yard touchdown to extend their advantage.

After the break, the Redskins came out firing as Cousins shifted his side downfield with ease and this time they did find the endzone, as he drilled the ball to Pierre Garcon on a slant route and he ran in for the eight-yard score.

It got better for Washington minutes later. Murray fumbled the ball putting them back on offense and Alfred Morris compounded his woes when he bulldozed his way into the endzone for four-yard touchdown.

However, the Cowboys weren't done as Romo drove them down the field and even though they were forced to settle for a field goal from Dan Bailey, they were still in the game.

Their defense managed to hold giving Romo one last chance to give his side the win and he got them to the goalline, but on three handoffs to Murray they couldn't break through, as on third and goal the back took a 10-yard loss.

That didn't deter Romo as he somehow escaped the rush of the Redskins' defense and threw on the run to Murray, who ran into the endzone to hand his side the win with a 10-yard score.
