Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall has branded criticism of quarterback Peyton Manning as "blasphemy".
The 39-year-old struggled to throw the ball downfield in his side's playoff defeat to the Indianapolis Colts last season, and displayed the same problems in the Broncos' narrow win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Manning has come under fire for his performances, but Marshall has defended his quarterback and is confident that he and the offense will come good.
"We all think it's blasphemy because Peyton, he still has it," Marshall told NFL Network. "You know, he has what it takes. I think it's just a matter of time because it's a new offense.
"It's the beginning of the season just the chemistry with the O-line and the receivers, everybody gotta get in sync.
"I definitely think it's going to turn around. I have no issues, or no worries about anything."
Manning threw for 175 yards and an interception in his side's win at Sports Authority Field.
