Detroit Lions safety James Ihedigbo has expressed his belief that his side have "championship DNA" ingrained into them.
The Lions have failed to win the NFL championship since 1957 and have reached the playoffs just once in the last 14 years.
However, Ihedigbo is adamant that he and his teammates are capable of winning the Vince Lombardi trophy if they put the effort in throughout the season.
"It's one of those things, you can feel it," Ihedigbo told mlive.com. "With this team, I can feel the makings of a championship-DNA team. Are we willing to sacrifice? That's the question, and I know we are.
"There are guys in this locker room that are willing to pay the price, whatever it is, to put the work in to be a champion. Yeah, we definitely have that championship DNA."
Ihedigbo won the Super Bowl in the 2012 season with the Baltimore Ravens.
