Clay Matthews: 'Our defense made a statement in New England Patriots win'

Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews admits that he was delighted with his side's defensive performance in their win over the New England Patriots.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews feels that his side's defense made a statement in their narrow victory over the New England Patriots.

The Patriots drove late in the game with the chance to take the lead with two minutes remaining in the match, but Ha Ha Clinton-Dix made a play to break up a potential touchdown catch from Rob Gronkowski.

On a crucial third down play Mike Daniels and Mike Neal sacked Tom Brady to kill the visitors' drive, which allowed their offense to see out the victory at Lambeau Field.

"We finally seem to be carrying our own weight, in light of how well the offense has been playing," Matthews told reporters. "It's great to see that we can string these together, and we're not riding the roller coaster that we've done maybe in the first half of the season.

"We're feeling good. We've got playmakers on defense. There's still room for improvement, but it's just about putting it together because we feel we can be just as good as anyone else out there."

The Packers are 9-3 in their season following their win over the Patriots.
