Mike McCarthy: 'Green Bay Packers won't make defense changes'

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy says that the team will not be making huge changes to their defense for the 2014 NFL season.

Mike McCarthy has insisted that the Green Bay Packers will not be making major changes to their defensive system during the off-season.

The NFC North side's defense was ranked 25th in the league for yards allowed in 2013 and just one place higher for points conceded.

The head coach told ESPN: "We were not as multiple maybe [last] year as we've been in prior years really because of the stress of injuries on that unit so we want to get back to some of the things that we did very well in the past and make sure we're carrying enough packages to utilise all of our players."

Linebackers Clay Matthews and Nick Perry and cornerback Casey Hayward were among a number of Packers' defensive players to miss time through injury in 2013.
