Green Bay Packers place Jermichael Finley on injured reserve

Packers place Finley on IR

The Green Bay Packers have announced that they have placed tight end Jermichael Finley on their injured reserve list.

The 26-year-old sustained a neck injury during his side's win over the Cleveland Browns after taking a hard hit which forced him to leave the field on a stretcher and be taken to hospital.

Doctors diagnosed the injury as a bruised spinal cord but told the tight end he will play again. However, he will have to wait until next season as the Packers chose to end his year by placing him on IR.

Finley's roster spot will be taken by offensive tackle Derek Sherrod, who has been activated from the physically unable to perform list.
