The Houston Texans have completed a trade deal to sign quarterback Ryan Mallett from the New England Patriots.
The 25-year-old was selected in the third round of the 2011 Draft by the Patriots, but failed to start an NFL game in his three years at the club behind first choice Tom Brady.
Bill O'Brien's side have sent a conditional pick in the seventh round of the 2016 Draft to the Patriots to acquire Mallett, and the quarterback will now compete with Ryan Fitzpatrick for the starting job.
The Texans released quarterback Case Keenum to make way for Mallett on their 53-man roster.
