The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly set to release nickelback Will Blackmon in a move which will clear cap space.
Jacksonville are expected to have significant cap space heading into the 2015 league year which starts on March 10, as they look to strengthen their roster ahead of next season.
Blackmon is a nine-year veteran who played the last two seasons with the Jaguars, but missed the final eight games of the 2014 campaign due to a fractured finger.
The 30-year-old recorded 68 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, one interception and 10 pass break-ups in 23 games with the franchise.
However, the decision to let him go also comes as 2014 fourth-round Draft pick Aaron Colvin continues to develop his game and establish himself as a starter.
