Andy Reid says he will be starting work immediately at the Kansas City Chiefs.

Andy Reid has spoken of his excitement at being named head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The former Philadelphia Eagles coach takes over from Romeo Crennel, who was fired at the end of the regular NFL season.

Reid told the Chiefs' website: "My family and I are very excited to join the Chiefs organisation and the Kansas City community.

"The Chiefs have always had a passionate fan base and I'm looking forward to Sundays at Arrowhead Stadium.

"We've got a lot of work to do to get ready for next season, and we are going to get started immediately."

The Chiefs finished the 2012 season with the worst record in the NFL, giving them the first pick in this year's Draft.
