Andy Reid confident of reaching deal with Justin Houston

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid remains confident that linebacker Justin Houston will sign a long-term contract with the AFC West outfit.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is optimistic that the club can come to a long-term agreement with linebacker Justin Houston.

The 26-year-old had an impressive season for the Chiefs in the 2014 campaign as he notched 22 sacks for the AFC West outfit on his way to being named an All-Pro for the first time in his career.

However, Houston and the Chiefs failed to come to terms on a long-term deal before free agency, leading the club to designate the linebacker with the franchise tag.

"We want him here, that's been stated before. He's a good person and a good player... sometimes these things take time," Reid told reporters.

"He knows this is a good place for him. We know this is a good place for him. They'll get it all worked out."

Houston has recorded 235 tackles, 48.5 sacks and one interception in his four years in the NFL.
