The Miami Dolphins rallied to score 10 point in the fourth quarter to earn a crucial win for their playoffs hopes in a 16-13 victory over the New York Jets.
The Jets started the game well on offense despite their struggles this season as Chris Johnson reeled off a huge run through the middle of the line to take his side to the redzone. In the following play Greg Salas came on an end around and raced into the endzone for a 20-yard score.
Rex Ryan's side continued to have success in the ground game as they found holes in the Dolphins' defense, as this time Chris Ivory carried the bulk of the load. The visitors eventually made the stop, which forced Nick Folk to kick a 40-yard field goal.
The Jets managed to earn a defensive stand to halt the Dolphins' progress, and Geno Smith started to move his side downfield with his side's running game. Ivory and Johnson moved them into field-goal range again, but this time Folk missed from 48 yards.
Miami got on the scoreboard just before the end of the half when Ryan Tannehill led his side into scoring range, and Caleb Sturgis atoned for an earlier miss to fire a 43-yard field goal through the posts.
In the second half, the Dolphins managed to bring themselves within four points as Sturgis fired a field goal from 44 yards after their offense had stalled early due to an incompletion from Tannehill.
However, the Jets restored their seven-point advantage when Smith fired a deep completion down the sideline for Zach Sudfeld, which allowed Folk to kick a 45-yarder between the posts.
Miami responded with a touchdown drive to level the scores as Tannehill drove his side into the redzone, and then handed off to Lamar Miller, who powered into the endzone for a four-yard score.
The Dolphins took the lead late in the game through another good drive from Tannehill as he pushed his offense to the nine-yard line before Sturgis kicked a 26-yard field to put them in control with two minutes left in the game.
Smith had time to win the game or draw his side level, but his attempted deep pass to Jeff Cumberland was intercepted by Rashad Jones to secure the win for the visitors. The Dolphins moved into the sixth seed in the AFC playoff race with the victory, while the Jets dropped to 2-10.
