New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has stated just how important teammate Darrelle Revis is to the team.

Revis has himself conceded that he is unsure if his future lies with the outer Boston-based franchise past this season, despite only being with them since last summer.

However, Brady has admitted that Revis is already a vital cog to the Patriots' defense, and that he is far happier playing with him than against him.

Brady told reporters: "He's a phenomenal player and I've loved playing with him. I've hated playing against him, and I've had my fair share of those opportunities.

"He's a great teammate and a phenomenal player. I think the thing that I'm so impressed with is his coverage skills without getting penalties.

"It's a rare thing when you're facing some of the best athletes in the world who are running at you as fast as they can. To be able to cover those guys like he does is pretty amazing."

Revis has two interceptions, one forced fumble and 43 total tackles to his name so far this season.
