Tom Brady rues missed throw

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady admits that he missed a chance to turn Sunday's AFC championship game in his side's favour with an overthrown pass.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has admitted that he missed a chance to turn Sunday's AFC championship game against the Denver Broncos in his side's favour.

Patriots receiver Julian Edelman had escaped his marker and was wide open while running towards the endzone in the first half, but Brady overthrew the pass and failed to pick out his teammate.

"That's one I think about that impacted the outcome of the game from my standpoint. I need to hit that throw. That's a throw I'm capable of making and I make nine out of 10 times, but I didn't make it [on Sunday]," Brady told WEEI.

"When you get in games like this and the margin of error is slim, you've got to make those plays and I didn't make it. Sometimes it's not turnovers that affect games, sometimes it's missed opportunities, and I missed that opportunity."

The Broncos went on to win the match 26-16, clinching their first Super Bowl berth since 1998.
