New England Patriots re-sign Ryan Wendell

The New England Patriots agree a deal to re-sign center Ryan Wendell on a two-year contract.

The New England Patriots have re-signed center Ryan Wendell on a two-year contract.

Wendell has been with the Patriots since 2008, working his way up to become a starter in the last two seasons having joined as an undrafted rookie.

The 28-year-old has started 37 games in all throughout his career and played more snaps than any other player in the NFL in 2012.

His new contract is worth a minimum of $1m (£600,000) per season, while bonuses and incentives mean that the maximum value of the deal is more than $8m (£4.8m).

Wendell is the latest player to come to terms with the Patriots, who have already brought in Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner as well as re-signing Julian Edelman and restructuring the contract of Vince Wilfork.
