New England Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis has expressed his delight at reaching the Super Bowl in his first season with the club.
The 29-year-old did come close to making the Vince Lombardi trophy game during his time with the New York Jets, but they were defeated in the AFC championship game in back-to-back seasons in 2009 and 2010.
However, Revis finally got over the hump as the Patriots hammered the Indianapolis Colts 45-7 to set up a showdown against the Seattle Seahawks in Glendale.
He told reporters: "It's pretty awesome. There's rookies that come in through the draft and get drafted to a great team.
"There's rookies that play their first year and go to the Super Bowl. Eight years later for me, it's very surreal. It's pretty awesome.
"We worked hard for it. It started out in April and I just give credit to everybody in this whole organisation."
Revis signed a two-year deal with the Patriots in the off-season following his release by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
