Tom Coughlin has said that the New York Giants must win their final four games of the NFL regular season if they are to make the playoffs.

The Giants recorded their fifth loss of the season against NFC East rivals the Washington Redskins on Monday, keeping them at the top of their division by only one win.

The Giants' head coach told reporters: "I'm just looking at it one game at a time knowing full well that it's a four-game season and we have to win literally every one of our games.

"I'm going to be aware of [a tiebreaker situation], but that's not going to enter into my thinking.

"I certainly think we will and I hope we will [respond], I don't know why we wouldn't."

With the second-placed teams in the NFC's North and West divisions having better records than the Giants, it is unlikely that the reigning Super Bowl champions would secure a wild card place if they fail to win their division.
