Jason Pierre-Paul: 'I can be better than my previous 2011 best'

New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul says that he has "unlimited" targets in terms of how many sacks he may be able to record next season.

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has set himself high expectations for the forthcoming NFL campaign.

In 2011, Pierce-Paul recorded 16.5 sacks and made the Pro Bowl as the Giants went on to win the Super Bowl.

However, during the last two seasons, the 25-year-old has been plagued by injuries and has recorded just two sacks in his last 23 appearances.

After training camp on Monday, he told reporters: "I'm trying to be better than the 2011 version of myself. Each year is a year for you to get better, so that's what I'm trying to do.

"No one wants to be injured or whatever, but it comes with the game. You never know if you're going to get injured, and you just have to fight through it.

"Now I could get a lot better and maybe we could get another Super Bowl. I'm 'unlimited' as far as personal numbers or targets go though."

The Giants will be keen for Pierre-Paul to step back up to the plate following the exit of veteran Justin Tuck, who recorded 11 sacks last season.
