Justin Tuck aims to test free agency

Justin Tuck is hopeful of staying with the New York Giants, but admits that he will look to the free agency market.

New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck has admitted that he will at least consider his options in the free agency when the market opens at the end of the current season.

Tuck said that while his preferred option would be to renew his deal with the Giants, he owes it to himself to take a look at any other offers that might be forthcoming.

"I will see what the market is for me," Tuck told the New York Post. "I've never been in this situation before, and it's a great opportunity for myself. I would be doing myself a disservice if I didn't see what the market is, and I will.

"We will sit down in a couple of weeks and see what happens, but obviously, the Giants are going to do what's best for the Giants, and vice versa with me and my family.

"I understand where they're coming from and what obstacles they have to overcome this off-season. There's no guarantee, and that's obvious. It's a business, and I understand both sides of it."

Tuck was drafted in 2005 and has played for the Giants his entire career.
