New York Jets general manager John Idzik has revealed that quarterback Mark Sanchez is recovering steadily from a shoulder injury that kept him out of the 2013 season.
The 26-year-old sustained his injury in pre-season and was forced to sit out the year, leaving Geno Smith to lead his side to an 8-8 record in his rookie campaign.
Reports suggested that due to Sanchez's high salary cap number, he could be cut by the team, but Idzik is coy on the quarterback's future.
"We're not going to really comment on that," Idzik told reporters. "We tend to let things play out, so we still have some time there.
"I know one thing for sure, Mark's diligently handling his rehab and we know that he'll be ready. But we'll just let that take his course."
Sanchez was selected sixth overall by the Jets in the 2009 Draft.
