The New York Jets have beaten the Cleveland Browns 31-10 in a comfortable victory at the MetLife Stadium in their opening game of the new NFL season.
A scoreless opening quarter was followed by a more lively second. The Browns suffered a large setback when Josh McCown fumbled in the opposition endzone, with Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie recovering the ball as a result.
It was the Browns who went ahead first, though, when Johnny Manziel found Travis Benjamin for a touchdown and Travis Coons converted the follow-up kick.
Chris Ivory then levelled things up for the Jets with a 9-yard run in as Nick Folk added the extra point.
The Jets went ahead with 0:26 left on the clock in the second as Ryan Fitzpatrick found Eric Decker from 16-yards for the run in, with Folk again converting the extra point to put the hosts ahead at the break.
The third quarter saw the Jets take an even bigger advantage when Brandon Marshall caught Fitzpatrick's second touchdown throw, and Folk successfully punted for the third time.
Folk hit a 34-yard field goal shortly before the end of the third period, and was involved again in the fourth when he was required to hit an extra point after Ivory picked up his second touchdown of the night from three yards to seal a convincing win for the Jets.
