Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez believes that the club have only signed Tim Tebow to cover for Sam Bradford during their off-season activities.
The NFC East side ended Tebow's 18 months out of the NFL by signing the 27-year-old to a one-year deal to make him the fourth quarterback on the club's roster.
Sanchez, who served as backup to former starting quarterback Nick Foles, feels that Tebow will not be competing to be the starter under Chip Kelly for the 2015 season.
"He's obviously a great guy, he works hard," Sanchez told reporters. "And we needed another guy to throw while Sam's [Bradford] still recovering.
"So that's the reason [for the signing], at least as explained to me. We're excited about the upcoming year and I think we have a great group."
Sanchez threw for 2,418 yards along with 14 touchdowns to 11 interceptions in nine games last season.
