The Kansas City Chiefs have headed into half time with a 12-3 lead over the San Diego Chargers in the all-AFC West battle at the Qualcomm Stadium.
Charcandrick West found a gap to get the visitors into a promising field position early in the first quarter, but was held up short while trying to force his way over for the touchdown.
Andy Reid left the offense on the field on fourth down though, using defensive tackle Dontari Poe as a running back to punch the ball in from a yard out, although Cairo Santos missed the extra point.
Dontrelle Inman and Steve Johnson tried to respond for the Chargers, but neither could find their way into the endzone, forcing the home side to settle for a Josh Lambo field goal early in the second quarter.
Santos was on target with a field goal to extend the Chiefs' lead further before the visiting side got the ball back, leaving Alex Smith to look for Travis Kelce in the final seconds of the half, but Manti Te'o prevented the tight end from completing the catch, forcing Santos to kick again.
