Brandon Flowers impressed with rookie Jason Verrett

San Diego Chargers cornerback Brandon Flowers reveals that he has been impressed with what he has seen from rookie Jason Verrett during the off-season.

San Diego Chargers cornerback Brandon Flowers believes that rookie Jason Verrett has all the attributes to become a top "playmaker" in the NFL.

The Chargers selected Verrett with the 25th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, and the veteran has revealed that he has been impressed with what he has seen so far from the former TCU Horned Frogs defensive back.

"He sticks in coverage," Flowers told U-T San Diego. "He's a playmaker. He has that 'want to' in his eyes. I've been around a lot of cornerbacks in my days, from old guys to young guys.

"He wants to be the one to make a play. He's not going to shy away from it like, 'I hope the quarterback doesn't throw my way on third down'.

"He wants the quarterback to throw his way on third down. Just having that 'want to,' his athleticism, I can't wait to see him when the lights come on."

The Chargers begin their 2014 NFL campaign against the Arizona Cardinals on September 8.
