LaDainian Tomlinson: 'San Diego Chargers may have to trade Philip Rivers'

Former San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson reveals that the AFC West outfit may be forced to trade quarterback Philip Rivers in the off-season.

Former San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson believes that the club could be forced to trade quarterback Philip Rivers because of his desire to leave the AFC West outfit.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a trade move to the Tennessee Titans, in a deal that could see the Chargers land the second overall pick in the 2015 Draft to select quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Rivers is reportedly unhappy about the club's potential move to Los Angeles next year, which Tomlinson has admitted could force their hand in a trade deal.

"You never want to trade your franchise quarterback. You know that's never the case. However, in this situation, they might have no choice but to do so," Tomlinson told NFL Network.

"Because I don't know if Philip [Rivers] wants to be there anymore. I think he has lost confidence in the organisation. He's seen a lot of changes going on and the LA. thing is valid. Him not wanting to go to LA is very valid."

Rivers threw for 4,286 yards and 31 touchdowns to 18 interceptions in the 2014 season.
