Boldin: 'Playing on Thursday night is dangerous'

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin believes that playing on Thursday nights compromises the safety of players throughout the NFL.

All 32 teams in the league have to play at least one game in their season on Thursday Night Football, just four days after playing on Sunday.

"There are some things that just don't make sense to me," Boldin told the San Jose Mercury News.

"I mean if you're so concerned about player safety then why do you have every team in the league playing on Thursday night when they just competed on a Sunday, knowing how difficult it is for guys to get back to being healthy after playing on Sunday?

"Guys really don't feel like they're back till probably Thursday or Friday to prepare for that next week."

The 49ers have already played their one game on Thursday night when they defeated the St Louis Rams.
