The San Francisco 49ers eased past the Minnesota Vikings last night, running out comfortable 34-14 winners in their pre-season match at Candlestick Park.
The 49ers opened the scoring through a Phil Dawson field goal before Colin Kaepernick put a shaky start behind him to complete six consecutive passes, ending with a five-yard touchdown pass to Quinton Patton.
Christian Ponder threw his first touchdown of the pre-season with three minutes left of the second quarter, but the 49ers hit back immediately through a 105-yard kickoff return from Lavelle Hawkins.
Ponder then claimed his second touchdown pass of the match with a three-yarder to Joe Webb, who made it 20-14 going into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter belonged to San Francisco, however, as Jewel Hampton and Anthony Dixon both claimed rushing touchdowns from four yards and one yard respectively.
