Todd Gurley 'likely to miss start of new season'

Running back Todd Gurley claims that he may not be able to make his St Louis Rams debut in the opening weeks of the season due to injury.

New St Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley has admitted that he could miss the start of the season through injury.

The 21-year-old was the 10th overall pick in the 2015 Draft, but is likely to miss the start of the new campaign as he recovers from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

When asked about his chances of being fit, he told SiriusXM Radio: "I don't know. Hopefully within the next couple weeks I'll be able to do something else and keep progressing.

"Right now, we're not pushing anything. It's kind of taking it day-by-day and week-by-week. Whether it's week five or week one, 10 years from now nobody is going to remember what you did the first five games. You've just got to take it easy."

Gurley scored 36 touchdowns in three college seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs.
