Robert Griffin III upbeat over Washington Redskins future

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III believes that he will return to his best form in the 2015 campaign after two years of struggle for the NFC East side.

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is confident that he can get back to his best form to reverse the fortunes of the franchise in the 2015 campaign.

The 25-year-old was selected with the second overall pick by NFC East side in the 2012 Draft, and he enjoyed an excellent rookie campaign as he led the team to the playoffs, only to suffer a serious knee injury in their first match.

The problem has plagued Griffin for the past two seasons as he has struggled to regain his form and was benched for a period in the 2014 campaign.

However, the Redskins have shown faith in the quarterback by using the option on his contract to extend his deal into the 2016 season, and he is upbeat that he will be able to prove people wrong by performing at a high level.

"People want you to be a certain person, and it's unfortunate for them that I'm not the person they made me out to be," Griffin told The Washington Post.

"That's why I can smile and have fun with my family and step on that football field with no worries and play like it's my last game that I'm ever gonna play every time that I'm out there on the field.

"But I know once we start winning again, the same people that have been saying negative things or trying to attack my character or my family will be the same ones saying, 'Oh, they're great people!' That's just the business, I would say. But it's not a business I want to be part of. So I'll continue to say, 'God bless,' and wish the best for people."

The Redskins finished with a 4-12 record in the 2014 season.
