Rex Grossman looking to seize starting chance

Third-choice Washington Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman is hoping to make the most of his chance in the first team after Kirk Cousins joined Robert Griffin III on the sidelines.

Washington Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman has expressed his desire to make the most of his chance in the first team.

Grossman is likely to start the Redskins' final two warm-up games against the Buffalo Bills after second-choice quarterback Kirk Cousins joined Robert Griffin III on the sidelines with a sprained foot suffered during his side's 24-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last night.

The full extent of Cousins's injury is yet to be revealed, but both he and Griffin could realistically miss the Redskins' season opener on September 9, and Grossman is hoping to take full advantage.

"I've been to a Super Bowl. Been to some big games," Grossman told The AP. "But every single time you're out there, it kind of feels like the biggest game. I wanted to make sure I was able to capitalize on this opportunity."

The Redskins will face the Buffalo Bills and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their final two warm-up games before getting their regular season underway against the Philadelphia Eagles.
