Washington Redskins president predicts Robert Griffin III improvement

Washington Redskins president Bruce Allen defends Robert Griffin III and believes that he can still improve.

Washington Redskins president Bruce Allen has insisted that the organisation still believes that quarterback Robert Griffin III can improve.

Coach Jay Gruden had announced that Griffin III would be his starting signal-caller next season at the NFL scouting combine on Thursday.

"If he can stay healthy, he has a high ceiling," Allen said, according to ESPN.

"You aren't going to win in the NFL unless your quarterback plays well. That's not a new discovery. We've got to play better there. Our quarterback, Robert, has gotten injured. One thing you learn maybe growing and maturing in this league is you've got to protect yourself a little bit more."

Allen went on to defend Griffin from criticism, insisting that he is still growing and learning the NFL game and fans were maybe "spoilt" by his early career form.
