Washington Redskins re-sign DeAngelo Hall

The Washington Redskins re-sign cornerback DeAngelo Hall on a four-year deal.

The Washington Redskins have re-signed cornerback DeAngelo Hall on a four-year deal.

The new contract is worth a reported $20m (£12m) over the four years following a season in which Hall intercepted four passes, returning two for touchdowns in addition to scoring on a fumble return.

The Redskins released the 30-year-old last off-season before re-signing him to a one-year deal worth $2.25m (£1.35m).

However, it was a disappointing campaign for the team overall as they managed just three wins to finish bottom of the NFC East just a year after winning the division.

Hall entered the league as a first-round Draft pick in 2004 and has since intercepted 43 passes - the second highest total for a cornerback in that period behind only Asante Samuel.

The new deal will now allow the Redskins to negotiate with linebackers Brian Orakpo and Perry Riley and defensive lineman Chris Baker, all of whom are also potential free agents.
