Robert Griffin III: 'I'll lean on my Washington Redskins teammates'

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III says that he will be leaning on his teammates during the opening game of the side's 2013 NFL season.

Robert Griffin III has said that he will lean on his teammates during his first NFL game since undergoing reconstructive knee surgery.

The Washington Redskins quarterback has been medically cleared to play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, eight months after tearing two ligaments in his knee.

The 23-year-old told reporters: "I've just got to lean on my teammates. We've got a lot of playmakers on this team, one that is directly behind me in Alfred Morris, so those guys will be ready to play.

"They know it will be my first game back. I think everyone is anticipating that I'll be rusty, but that's not the way I think. That's just not how I'm built to think. Those guys know I'll lean on them and I think they are ready to make plays."

Griffin was named the offensive rookie of the year in 2012.
