Archer Kieran Slater through to final 32 in Baku

Kieran Slater advances to the round of 32 in the men's archery at the European Games in Baku after defeating Russia's Alexander Kozhin.

British archer Kieran Slater has advanced to the final 32 of the men's individual event after beating Russian athlete Alexander Kozhin 6-2 in four sets.

The 21-year-old, who was seeded 43rd for the event, triumphed over the 22nd seed with a total of 108 from his 12 arrows, compared to the Russian's 96.

Kozhin opened the door for Slater with some inconsistent shooting, finding only two points with his first arrow of the third set.

Slater won the National Series Leg Five in Exmouth last year on his way to being called up by Team GB.
