Team England's Asha Philip is confident that the women's 4x100m relay team will win more medals in the future after scooping bronze in the Commonwealth Games at Hampden Park this evening.
The quartet, including Philip, Bianca Williams, Jodie Williams and Ashleigh Nelson, crossed the finish line in 43.10s to claim a bronze medal, behind winners Jamaica and second-place Nigeria.
After collecting their medals in front of the Glasgow crowd, the group had a quick chat with Sports Mole to discuss their podium-worthy performance.
Can you sum up how you're feeling right now?
B. Williams: "Yeah, really happy actually - over the moon. Another medal. We worked well as a team - first time changing together, so we worked well and we did great."
Being part of a team, does it make it more special?
Philip: "We see these guys almost every day at training, so we've always wanted to run a relay together, so this is the chance that we got. It wasn't that great of a time, but the fact that we had this experience, our ages are almost similar - we've never been to a championship together, so it felt good. We're a young team, we're up and coming and hopefully we can progress."
You mentioned quite a bright future for English sprinting. Do you see yourself challenging the Jamaicans in the near future?
J. Williams: "Definitely. Me and Bianca took them out in the 200, Asha was right up there with them in the 100, you know, there's going to be a day soon when we're gonna take them out. I've got confidence in us."
B. Willaims: "I think they've started to get scared of us."
J. Williams: "I think they are. They've started to see us and started to talk to us - so they're definitely wary."
England scooped 27 athletics medals in total, which placed them fourth in the table. Kenya finished at the top with 23 medals, Jamaica second with 19 and Australia third with 12 medals.
