Damen looking ahead to Rio 2016

England's Louise Damen has targeted success at the 2016 Rio Olympics after finishing seventh in the women's marathon at the Commonwealth Games.

Damen, who completed the course in a time of 2:32.59 hours, was Team England's best-placed finisher in Glasgow.

"It's the first Championship marathon that I have run so it was a slightly more tactical race than I'm probably used to," she told reporters. "But it's the first marathon where I didn't crash and burn in the last 10k so I'm pleased with that.

"I've tweaked my nutrition a bit and tweaked my pacing and that seems to have paid off. It's been a great stepping stone for me towards Rio, that's the next big target."

Meanwhile, Amy Whitehead placed ninth, while Alyson Dixon was forced to retire from the race with a calf injury.
