Sophie Hitchon has admitted that winning her first senior medal at the Commonwealth Games would be an "amazing" moment at this stage of her career.
The 23-year-old, who finished 12th in the Olympic final two years ago, believes that she is now ready to make an impact at the major events after impressing as a junior athlete.
"It's my first Commonwealths - I didn't go to Delhi four years ago - and I just want to try and perform to my best, and hopefully get a medal," Hitchon told the Burnley Express.
"To get my first senior medal would be a big achievement, especially in my first season as a senior.
"Your first year in the seniors can be difficult, but hopefully I'll get stuck into these championships and do well."
Hitchon will begin her campaign to reach the final at Hampden Park on Sunday.
