Jennifer Meadows "gutted" despite advancing

Team England runner Jennifer Meadows says that she was "gutted" with her performance despite making the final of the 800m at the Commonwealth Games.

Team England 800m runner Jennifer Meadows has admitted that she was "gutted" with her performance in her semi-final heat at the Commonwealth Games.

Meadows advanced into the final despite finishing fifth, but she was unhappy with her performance in the last-four stage.

"Yesterday was nice and smooth and then today was just a scrap. Bumping and barging several times and I guess Championships go that way sometimes, but not usually at semi-final stage," she told Sports Mole.

"I am completely gutted because I am in really good shape and I didn't do myself justice out there."

Meadows also said that it is "an advantage" to be in the second semi-final in this type of competition.

"It is an advantage to be in the second race, you can watch the first one and you can make sure it is quick from the front."

Meadows logged a time of 2:02.29.
