England's 800m finalist Jennifer Meadows has admitted that she feels she was capable of finishing better than sixth at the Commonwealth Games tonight.
The 33-year-old, whose career has been blighted by an Achilles injury for the last several years, posted a time of 2:02.19 in Glasgow, two seconds slower than her season best.
"Unfortunately for me I came sixth and I think there was more I could do," Meadows told Sports Mole after the race. "On reflection I know after not running for three years, sixth is brilliant in the Commonwealth Games but I am in better shape than that.
"Three [races] in three days is so tough. At the World Championships this would be a rest day - my legs were pretty dead down that home strait. I'm not satisfied but I'm proud of myself."
Kenya's Eunice Jepkoech Sum took gold, while it was silver for host nation Scotland as Lynsey Sharp beat out Uganda's Winnie Nanyondo by four one-hundredths of a second.
