Asbel Kiprop has won the 1500m gold at the World Athletics Championships after a five-man sprint finish.

Algeria's Taoufik Makhloufi, Morocco's Abdalaati Iguider, Kenya's Silas Kiplagat and Kiprop broke free of the pack in the final lap.

Makhloufi led until the last 100m but Kiprop passed him on the final straight to take the gold medal in a time of 3:34.40.

Elijah Motonei Manangoi came from far behind the leading pack on the final straight to take the silver medal, with Iguider claiming bronze.

Great Britain's Charlie Grice finished ninth.
