Sir Steve Redgrave and Daley Thompson are reportedly fighting it out to light the Olympic flame at London 2012's opening ceremony in two weeks' time.
Two of Great Britain's most successful Olympians are thought to be the main contenders to carry out the honour, with Redgrave said to be favoured by the British Olympic Association, according to the Daily Mail.
While the BOA are believed to be keen on Redgrave, reports have also claimed that LOCOG chair Lord Coe would rather Thompson light the flame due to his frosty relationship with Redgrave.
Both athletes have had illustrious careers, with rower Redgrave holding five Olympic gold medals to his name, while Thompson has two along with one world gold title.
