UK Athletics have confirmed that Dwain Chambers will not compete in the individual 100m at the European Championships in Helsinki next weekend.
The sprinter had reportedly been hoping to take part in the event in order to achieve the required qualifying time for this summer's Olympic Games in London.
As a result, Chambers's place at the Games will now depend upon him receiving a discretionary pick from the governing body.
The 34-year-old has been included as part of the British squad for the 4x100m relay in Finland. He has been joined in the team by Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, James Ellington, Christian Malcolm and Danny Talbot.
