Lord Sebastian Coe elected IAAF president

Lord Sebastian Coe is elected the new IAAF president after beating Sergey Bubka by 23 votes in Beijing.

Lord Sebastian Coe has been elected the new president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Recent doping allegations ensured that the build-up to the election was in the spotlight, and Coe managed to beat Sergey Bubka in the battle to replace Lamine Diack, who had been president for 15 years.

Coe, who played a key role in bringing the Olympics to London in 2012, earned 115 votes from member federations to Bubka's 92 at the 50th IAAF Congress in Beijing.

The 58-year-old will officially take office on August 31.
